Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)  

* Main purpose of job:

To provide a high standard of transport and logistics to the British Embassy Kinshasa. Core duties include driving, logisitics and providing administrative assistance to the Embassy.

* General driving duties

  • Undertake all driving responsibilities requested by Embassy staff, including delivery and collection of passengers, mails etc., and any ad-hoc driving requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the FCDO Health and Safety requirements at all times

Care of vehicles

  • Carry out daily Petrol, Oil, Water, Electric & Rubber (POWER)  checks on vehicles.
  • Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicles assigned clean and tidy at all times
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance, servicing, and insurance renewal are completed as necessary.
  • Report any vehicle faults to the Transport Manager and the Driver Mechanic as soon as possible.

* Administrative duties

  • Ensure that the journey record sheet is correctly completed for each journey
  • Assist with admin tasks assigned by Transport Manager within the deadlines.
  • Participate in logistical preparations of high-level visits, including driving schedules etc.
  • Undertake any ad-hoc duties to help meet the Embassy objectives.

  • Min 5 years of Driving experience
  • Present a driving licence
  • Thorough knowledge of Kinshasa, including location of Government Building
  • Diplomatic Missions and International Organisations
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Pass a driving test set by the Embassy.
  • Well-developed sense of safety
  • Service and customer focus approach.
  • Computer literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Previous work with a diplomatic mission or international organisation
  • Armored vehicle training
  • Basic motor vehicle mechanic
