We are looking for an experienced leader to provide mentorship and oversight to our program managers and program development team, as well as provide guidance in field office vision and leadership. A day in the life of a Deputy Country Director

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other and our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe.

In the role of Deputy Country Director, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
  • Support the Country Director in cultivating an environment of continuous development of spiritually healthy field teams.
  • In Collaboration with senior management, actively participates in the development and implementation of a country office strategy and vision within the overall Samaritan’s Purse vision/mission.
  • Pursue potential funding and other available resources for ongoing, new, or planned Samaritan’s Purse projects.
  • Support the Country Director with monitoring security concerns and potential disasters, both natural and man-made.
  • Primary responsibilities are determined in collaboration with the Country Director but may include oversight of field office operations; guiding the work of the Program Development Officer and Program Managers on proposals and budgets; monitoring implementation and finances; evaluating ongoing and new activities to ensure targets are achieved and budgets are maintained; and overseeing the completion of accurate and thorough reporting.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to lead large cross-cultural teams.
  • General knowledge of socioeconomic, cultural and political conditions within country.
  • Working knowledge of partnerships with USAID and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • General knowledge of project planning and implementation; logistics; and financial and administrative coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three (3) to five (5) years’ related leadership and international field work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive field humanitarian experience in a management role is strongly preferred.
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
  • Ability to lead large cross-cultural teams.

Job Location: Bunia, DRC

Type: Full-Time

Language Requirement: Fluency in English (required); French (fluency required)

Accompaniment: Accompanied

Travel Expectations: The employee must be able to travel in and out of remote fields; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
