Background:
SoCha, LLC is contracted to provide technical and advisory services to the United States Agency for International Development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (USAID/DRC) on the 5-year Mission Strategic Support Program (MSSP). The purpose of MSSP is to provide services assisting the mission with strategy and activity-level performance monitoring, evaluation and learning, including conducting data gathering and verification, data visualization, data quality assessments, impact and performance evaluations, assessments, organizational learning, and MEL capacity building.
Position overview:
The USAID/DRC Mission Strategic Support Program (MSSP) is seeking a Short-Term Technical Assistance (STTA) Consultant to support the USAID/DRC Mission’s efforts in co-creation with local partners. This role will focus on capacity building, facilitation of a peer-to-peer sharing workshop, and the development of practical tools and templates to enhance USAID’s co-creation processes. The successful candidate will work closely with MSSP and USAID staff to foster meaningful engagement with local organizations, thereby contributing to USAID’s long-term vision for sustainable development in the DRC.
Responsibilities:
The STTA Consultant will perform the following tasks:
1. Facilitate Peer-to-Peer Sharing Workshop
- Organize and lead a peer-to-peer sharing workshop, where USAID staff will share experiences and lessons learned from co-creation with local actors.
- Design and develop the agenda and facilitation plan and ensure the sessions are effective for experience sharing.
2. Desk Review of Existing Co-Creation Resources
- Conduct a review of USAID’s existing co-creation materials, analyzing them to identify gaps and inform the development of new tools.
3. Develop a Capacity Strengthening Plan
- Design a comprehensive capacity-strengthening plan based on insights from the desk review and peer-to-peer sessions. The plan should guide USAID staff on how to plan and deliver co-creation events effectively.
4. Deliver Capacity Support
- Implement the capacity strengthening plan by facilitating workshops and training for USAID staff. This includes hands-on guidance and coaching on co-creation best practices.
5. Develop Co-Creation Tools and Templates
- Create practical, user-friendly tools and templates for various types of cocreation activities, such as competitive, virtual, and multi-stakeholder cocreation events.
Expected Deliverables
- Peer-to-Peer Sharing Workshop: Final agenda and facilitation plan for the workshop.
- Capacity Strengthening Plan: Finalized plan outlining a combination of trainings, workshops, and coaching sessions to enhance co-creation efforts
- Local Partner Co-Creation Resources: A set of templates and tools for use in cocreation events
Level of Effort (LOE)
The total estimated LOE for this engagement is 40 days, over 3 months broken down as follows:
- Peer-to-Peer Sharing Workshop: 5 days
- Desk Review: 5 days
- Capacity Strengthening Plan: 5 days
- Workshops and Trainings: 15 days
- Development of Tools and Templates: 10 days
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience facilitating co-creation activities in a development or humanitarian context, preferably with USAID local partners.
- Strong knowledge of USAID’s co-creation processes, Localization Strategy, and CLA (Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting) approach.
- Proven ability to develop and implement capacity-strengthening plans, including designing and delivering training.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and French is preferred.
